"The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control confirms the arrests of two American nationals, Jelena Noura (Gigi) Hadid and Leah Nicole McCarthy for the importation of marijuana and importation of utensils used for the consumption of marijuana, on 10 July 2023," authorities said in a statement.

Cayman officials said Hadid and friend McCarthy arrived in the country from the US via a private plane. They were taken into custody after customs officers searched their luggage and a "small amount of marijuana was recovered," according to authorities.

Both appeared at a Summary Court hearing on July 12 where they pleaded guilty and were each fined CI $1,000, or about USD $1,200, officials said.

She appeared to address the matter indirectly in an Instagram post dated Tuesday, July 18, writing "All's well that ends well."

Hadid and then-boyfriend Zayn Malik lived or stayed on a property in New Hope borough as of late 2021.

In October of that year, Malik was sentenced to 360 days probation and an anger management class by a Pennsylvania court following an alleged domestic incident in which he was accused of calling Hadid's mother Yolanda a "f*****g Dutch slut," Daily Voice then reported

The couple, who shares a 1-year-old daughter together, broke up following the incident.
